India Moves to Strengthen Electronics Manufacturing Ecosystem Through Strategic Policy Dialogue at Bharat Mandapam
The Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, organised a high-level Chintan Shivir at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, with industry leaders and experts to discuss India's electronics manufacturing growth, global value chains, export strategies and policy measures to strengthen the country's position as a competitive global electronics manufacturing hub.
The Department, in collaboration with the Mobile and Electronic Devices Export Promotion Council (MEDEPC), the Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC), and the Telecom Equipment and Services Export Promotion Council (TEPC), organised a Chintan Shivir at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. The session focused on India's evolving electronics manufacturing landscape and strategies to build a stronger presence in global markets.
Secretary, Department of Commerce, Rajesh Agrawal, highlighted that the global electronics industry is increasingly shaped by global value chains, requiring India to establish a policy framework that ensures predictability and stability for these value chains to expand their operations in the country.
Agrawal noted that policy approaches designed to support production for the domestic market may differ from those required to promote export-oriented manufacturing. He emphasised the need for balanced strategies that address the requirements of both domestic growth and international competitiveness.
The Chintan Shivir was convened to encourage constructive discussions among stakeholders and develop practical, balanced and actionable policy recommendations. The objective was to create an equitable framework benefiting all stakeholders while reinforcing India's role as a globally competitive electronics manufacturing and export hub.
The high-level consultation marks an important step towards aligning government policies with industry requirements and strengthening India's integration into global electronics value chains through a stable, competitive and export-focused manufacturing ecosystem.
